NASA Astronaut Story Musgrave visited Aviation Heritage Park June 6 while launching the Warren County Public Library’s summer reading program, “Space Celebration.” Musgrave was greeted by Dan Cherry and members of the AHP Board of Directors. A highlight of his tour of the park was the NASA T-38 honoring regional astronaut Terry Wilcutt. Musgrave is one of many astronauts who has quite a bit of “stick time” in this particular aircraft. Story is an outstanding photographer, and has published a book about all of the NASA T-38s, and ours was one of his favorite subjects.
Story was an NASA astronaut for more than 30 years and flew on six spaceflights. He performed the first shuttle spacewalk on Challenger’s first flight, was a pilot on an astronomy mission, conducted two classified DOD missions, was the lead spacewalker on the Hubble Telescope repair mission and on his last flight, he operated an electronic chip manufacturing satellite on Columbia.
