Open Cockpit Day October 21

Come to the park Saturday, October 21, 10 am – 2 pm, for both the Drone Dash and Open Cockpit Day! It’s your once a year chance to get an up close look at all the park airplanes. The cockpits will be open for you to check out what is inside!

Each plane in the park will have a docent on hand to tell the story of the plane and the famous heroes who flew those planes. You will be able to climb some steps and check out the interior of the plane.

Pictures are welcomed as you view the T-38 Talon honoring local astronaut Terry Wilcut. This Talon, #901, was flown by all the astronauts who flew the 6 Mercury missions through 1963, the 10 Gemini missions, and the Apollo program. The astronauts who have flown AHP’s Talon include Scott Carpenter, L. Gordon Cooper, Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom and Donald K. “Deke” Slayton, John H. Glenn, Jr., Walter M. Schirra, Jr. and Alan B. Drone Dash October 21

Date: Saturday, October 21, 2017
multirotorguysTime: Registration Start- 9 am, Flights– 10 am – 2 pm
Location: Aviation Heritage Park located at the corner of Three Springs Road and Smallhouse Road at Basil Griffin Park.

Registration: Register day of event: $10 Fee to fly at Drone Dash. $5 additional fee for FPV racing.

FPV Racing: First Person View racing. Course layout based on the MultiGP UTT1. Click here to view the course.
Flight Simulator: An FPV computer simulator will be available.
Green Zone: Open area for fun flight and aerial demonstrations.
Participants: First Person View (FPV) and Fun Fly pilots. Click for Participation Rules.
Spectators are welcome! No registration is required (Spectators must remain clear of FPV Race course and out of Green Zone)

Visit us at Aviation Heritage Park where we currently have five aircraft displayed in the park and will soon add a sixth, the Huey displayed at Hangar Party 2017. Each of these artifacts tells the story of a hero pilot.
